A few quick observations so as not to totally lose my momentum…
Attack on Titan (Shingeki no Kyojin) Season 3 Part 2 – Episode 9 / Episode 58
Well, now we know where Eren got his tendency towards self indulgent/self pitying monologues… He comes by it honest, inherited from his father. (I kid… Mostly.)
Speaking of inheritances, I’m still working out the implications of Eren possessing Royal blood and the Founding Titan.
A fascinating episode, fraught with portents for the future. We’re in for less action and more politics I’m afraid.
Joshi Kausei Episode 12 (Finale)
I wish they’d chose more chapters from the manga like this one… Joshi Kausei was always at it’s best when it’s just the friends derping around doing goofy stuff just because.
Kono Oto Tomare!: Sounds of Life Episode 12
Is it just me, or was the episode mostly filler(ish) so they could cliffhanger for the finale?
Senryu Girl (Senryuu Shoujo) Episode 12 (Finale)
There were two things many viewers wanted out of this show as the season progressed. One was to see Eiji and Nanako become a canon couple. We didn’t get that. The other, was to see their first meeting… and we did get that! I don’t know if it lived up to anyone else’s expectations, but I was smiling all through the episode. I won’t call it perfect, but it was pretty damn good.
I also wanted to talk a little about Eiji’s senryu…
Dear Mr. Santa
Can you convince my old man
Not to smoke in bed
I actually thought it was pretty good. A nice blend of the childish (Santa) with the adult (concern for safety and health). Seems to me about right for a first year high school student. Others often see Eiji as a violent thug, but the poem once again reminds us (the viewers) that there’s more to that book than the cover.
Any thoughts? Drop a comment and let’s chat!
@Kono Oto wa Tomare: I don’t remember having filler thoughts during the episode. Live Chart says the show will be back in fall, so it’s entirely possible they’ll aim for cliff-hanger, though. I haven’t really changed my mind about the show. Good when about the Koto, so-so about the drama. I do like both Chika and Satowa; they’re great characters. And the club advisor has potential, but feels pretty regular so far.
@Senryu Shoujo: The way they met wasn’t exactly impactful and dramatic, and that’s just perfect for the show. Sometimes people just click. I’m really happy it ended on this scene. The show knows it’s priorities pretty well. One of my favourites.

@Kono Oto wa Tomare: I meant this episode was filler, to deliver the cliffhanger (Chika’s hand). OTOH, maybe the filler (such as the time spent on the teacher) will be more meaningful in the second cour.
@Senryu Shoujo: Agreed on all counts.

I agree. Eiji’s senryu was pretty great. Captured the spirit of the season very well.

From what little I can tell, the actual senryu they featured were all pretty well done.

@Shingeki no Kyojin 58:
“Speaking of inheritances, I’m still working out the implications of Eren possessing Royal blood and the Founding Titan.”
Eren doesn’t possess royal blood – he just realized that the only time he was able to use the Founding Titan’s Coordinate power was when he touched a titan of royal blood. S’ok – there was a lot of exposition in this episode, as in the previous one.
“A fascinating episode, fraught with portents for the future. We’re in for less action and more politics I’m afraid.”
FWIW, I expect to see a post-credits teaser for Season 4 at the end of tomorrow’s season finale. Unlike the previous two episodes, tomorrow’s episode only adapts one manga chapter, so I expect to see some filler (like the Eren/Mikasa flashbacks in #56 “The Basement”, which was also adapted from one chapter).
@Mix: Meisei Story 13: I know you’re not commenting on this one regularly but I’m just going to throw this one up there as my second favorite series this season… I don’t have much to say about it other than it’s lived up to my expectations, which were pretty high.
@Senryuu Shoujo 12: My most pleasant surprise of the season. Unlike the two series above, which I’d been long anticipating, this one came out of nowhere.
@Miru Tights 7: Decades from now, people will still remember where they were and what they were doing when Miru Tights episode 7 saved anime. We’ve reached peak anime here, folks – nowhere to go from here but down.

Sorry for the belated reply, busy, busy weekend. (We make the most of our limited summers here!)
@ Attack on Titan
Yeah, realized that not too long after I published the post… Somehow I got it in my head that he was Dina’s child (which he isn’t).
I saw the announcement about S4. There seems to be a lot of confusion over whether or not it will reach the end of the manga. Has the end of the manga been announced?
@MIX It’s one of my fav’s too. I should have said something to that effect earlier! It hasn’t fit well into my staycation style posts because there’s so much going on. They’ve got so many characters it’s a bit confusing sometimes.
@Senryuu Shoujo And it’s easily my favorite this season!

Some months ago, it was announced that the current manga story arc is the final one. If this arc is in the same range as previous ones, the manga should conclude before the S4 premiere, and S4 will need two cours to reach the end of the manga.
