Favorite Anime OP’s & OP Bingo! – Week 2

02 Anime OP Bingo - Week 2.jpg

And we continue to reveal more squares!  Who guessed right?  Who is on the way to a Bingo?  Hit the jump and see!

N2 Spice and Wolf
Tabi no Tochū • Natsumi Kiyoura

The OP (animation) itself is nothing particularly special…  But my heart says the song is simply the most beautiful OP tune I’ve ever heard.  Full of loneliness and longing, it tears at your soul.

Correctly identified by marthaurion, anime correctly identified by Dawnstorm.

N4 Sweetness and Lightning
Hare Bare Fanfare • Mimi Meme Mimi

Like the anime it’s based on, this song is just unbearably cute.  I’ve always loved the imagery of Tsumugi falling into her father’s arms right at the end of the OP.

I still have a sad that the manga is over…  But I did enjoy the epilogue chapters that gave some hints as to how things turned out in the future.

Correctly identified by marthaurion, also by Wingking (though not part of his Bingo bid) anime correctly identified by Dawnstorm.

O4 Mobile Suit Gundam: Iron-Blooded Orphans
Raise your flag • Man with a Mission

I say this a lot over the course of these posts, but sometimes you just can’t articulate why you like a song/OP.  There’s just something about this tune that sets my blood to pumping and my toes to tapping.

Correctly identified by Wingking, though not part of a Bingo bid.

N5 Cowboy Bebop
Tank! • The Seatbelts

I think this tune is best described a “jazzy and active”…  A perfect fit for the series.  I just like to bounce along as I listen to it.

Correctly identified by marthaurion.

G5 The iDOLM@STER
Change!!!! • 765PRO Allstars

A cute bouncy little tune…  What else do you want?  Sometimes, there’s just not a complicated reason for liking a song.  I’m particularly fond of Haruka’s henshin(ish) sequence that starts at 00:52 – neatly symbolizing the change from ordinary girl in an idol.

Correctly identified by WingKing.

Be sure and check out the other parts to this series:

  1. Heh, I almost never know the titles of openings.

Didn’t somebody guess at least the anime to Iron-Blooded Orphans? Or was that the wrong square. Can’t remember.

It’s fun seeing the squares fill out.

    1. You’ve got a good memory! Wing correctly identified both Iron-Blooded Orphans and Sweetness & Lightning. I’ve edited the post to add those.

      Glad you’re enjoying this. :)

  2. Songs on my own iTunes playlist: 1/5 (Bebop, ironically the one that I missed here). These are all good openings, though.

I’ve watched all of this week’s shows at one time of another except Idolmaster, though I never did finish IBO. I actually just started a rewatch of Spice & Wolf last night, for the first time in about 8 years. It seems like it’s been coming up in my online conversations an awful lot recently, so I took that as a sign that the time was right, and I had the Blu-Rays sitting on my shelf still unwatched from when I picked them up a couple of years ago.

    1. If you go through the first season of IBO, you’ve seen the best it has to offer… The second season is good, but nowhere to the level of the first. (IMO.)

I’ve only seen Spice & Wolf once. I did try and rewatch it, but it got to one of the tedious stretches and I got distracted by other things. Once of those anime that I loved but isn’t rewatchable for me? There aren’t many, but there are a few.

If you have any interest at all in the idol genre, I heartily recommend iDOLM@STER. It’s kinda my lodestone for how an idol anime should be done. It’s especially my example of how character roulette and large casts can be decently handled.
