If it’s not one tham ding, it’s another…

If you follow me on twitter, you’ve got the gist of it…  But the last week or so has kinda sucked.  And it’s going to suck for a while yet.

Basically, my desktop died last week with my post only half written, so no post came out last week.  Thanks to an IRL friend, I’m back online with an ancient (circa early 10’s) Mac Mini…  But it’s slow, and quirky.  (And this small screen isn’t easy to work on.)  I also can’t quite figure out how to take screenshots.

So, the plan is this:  Later this week, I’ll get a mixed Week 7/8 post out and resume regular coverage next week.  Because this machine doesn’t work quite like my normal (Windows) desktop, they’ll probably be text only and likely short.

The new machine is due in sometime in late June, and things should return to normal.  (“Normal” is of course used advisedly around me!)  It’s taking that long because the various demands on my computer mean I have to buy a customized one because no prebuilt suffices.  (Not to mention the various ongoing impacts of the pandemic.)

So, bear with me folks…  I’m still here, just working with one hand tied behind my back.

  1. Oh man, this has to be inconvenient. Hope everything turns out all right, and don’t worry too much about the blog. It’s supposed to make life more fun, not more of a hassle. We’ll be there when the next post comes out (boldly speaking for others, which I technically can’t).

I did, for once, peek at twitter (easy link on the sidebar).

I need to remember that more often… Nothing is as heavy as the burden we put on ourselves, warranted or no, right?

Yeah, the Twitter feed is on the sidebar for just that reason! :) :)

      Thanks! That means a lot.

Part of the reason I deleted my MAL, entry by entry by hand. Probably part of the reason why I don’t have a blog. I definitely know what you mean.

  2. Are you running MacOS on your Mac Mini? Then SHIFT-CMD-5 should bring up a menu to let you take a variety of types. Or, SHIFT-CMD-4 will let you select a part of the screen to dump into a graphic file on the Desktop. If you just want to capture it to the Clipboard, SHIFT-CONTROL-CMD-4.

I’ve been using a Macbook Pro recently for some writing, and I don’t have SnagIt installed.

    HTH!

    1. SHIFT-CMD-3 takes a “normal” screenshot, and SHIFT-CMD-4 (which I hadn’t known about) lets me grab a portion. SHIFT-CMD-5 doesn’t seem to do anything…
