Anime Playlist – Spice and Wolf

Spice and Wolf
With Spice and Wolf: Merchant Meets the Wise Wolf (Spice and Wolf 2024) currently in its second cour…  It’s long since past time for me to post an Anime Playlist entry with one of my favorites anime opening songs ever.

Tabi no Tochū

Natsumi Kiyoura

Full Version:

OP Version (w/ English subtitles):

In my not-so-humble opinion, quite possibly the most beautiful and haunting anime melodies in the history of ever.  When I first started collecting anisong back in the mid teens, this was one of the first I sought out.

Regular readers please take note:  I am working on my Summer 2024 Week 3 post, and it will be out late this week or early next.  I was lazy and didn’t get started until they’d all aired and it’s turned into a busy week.

Song Title Challenge – but with anisong!

So, a challenge popped up in my Facebook memories on Wednesday – match categories to song titles.  Back then, for my not anime fan friends, it was all was (for lack of a better term) normal music.  I talked about going back and redoing it with anime music…  But until today, I never did.

So, hit the jump and let’s take the challenge!  (And you can join in!)

Anime Playlist – Sword Art Online

Sword Art Online Progressive - Aria of a Starless Night - Asuna - Movie PosterThis upcoming weekend we get to see Sword Art Online Progressive: Aria of a Starless Night…  So I’m inspired to write a new entry in my Anime Playlist series, covering the Sword Art Online franchise.  I own more music from this franchise than any other non-idol series.

Anime Playlist – NANA

If, like me, you’re a fan of the classic anime NANA – there was very good news indeed this week.  After years of being unavailable, HiDive will start streaming it next Thursday (22nd of April)!

My wife and I have already decided we’ll be watching it regularly, as our schedule allows.  Haven’t seen it since it left Netflix oh-so-many years ago, can’t wait to see it again!

Anyhow, that means it’s a fine time for another edition of Anime Playlist!

Hit the jump and get ready to rock!

Anime Playlist – Laid Back Camp

As an anime season winds down, I start thinking about what music to add to my anime playlist. Winter 2021 is no exception, and yields some fine music indeed. And with so many sequels, it also lets me get caught up some on my backlog of Playlist posts!

So, without further ado, let’s hit the jump and listen to some laid back music!

Anime Playlist – Shirobako

Shirobako - Aoi, Ema, Midori, Misa, and Shizuka

Earlier in the week Sentai Filmworks announced their Black Friday sale… (No affiliates code or commercial interest, just a satisfied customer.) Turns out that most everything they had on sale, I’d bought during their Spring Sale. (See my Experiment in Unboxing post for details). But this time around, something I’d wanted last time was on sale – Shirobako!

Which reminded me that I haven’t done an anime playlist post in a while, and that both Shirobako OP’s are on that list:

Shirobako OP 1 – Colorful Box, Yoko Ishida

Shirobako OP 2 – Treasure Box, Masami Okui

Anyhow, just a quick post because it was on my mind… For my American readers, I wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving, and we’ll see everyone next week when regular posting resumes!

Anime Playlist – Yuuki Yuuna franchise

Should be working on X or Y, but my brain wants to work on Z – an anime playlist post. Specifically, on the Yuuki Yuuna franchise. Fine, fine, it’s one I’ve been especially meaning to get to sooner rather than later… So, hit the jump and let’s get it going!

Worth Watching – NANA, a tale of two

NANA - Two Nanas

If I were to make a list of shows in desperate need of a license rescue, the classic NANA would definitely be on it.  If it was available, there’s a whole bunch of people (including your humble author) who would be constantly talking it up.  In the meantime, it’s story has inspired a number of AMV’s that are very much worth watching.

Hit the jump, and let’s explore!

Anime Playlist – Recovery of an MMO Junkie

Haven’t posted anything about my anime playlist in a bit, so I guess it’s time to update with my latest additions and thoughts.

Recent Additions:

Recovery of an MMO Junkie
Net-juu no Susume / “Recommendation of the Wonderful Virtual Life”
Saturday Night Question – Megumi Nakajima

Rewatched MMO Junkie a couple of months back – and realized that I watched and listened to the OP every time.  Maybe I didn’t fall in love the first time around, but I certainly did this time.

Runner-ups:

Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!
(Eizōken ni wa Te o Dasu na!)
Chelmico – Easy Breezy

I watched the OP every single week, and loved it. But when I listened to the complete song, I didn’t like it so much. Still, wanted to share it because it’s a fun tune.  And an anime very much worth watching if you haven’t.

My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!
Otome Gēmu no Hametsu Furagu Shika Nai Akuyaku Reijō ni Tensei Shite Shimatta
angela – There’s More Than Just One Route For a Maiden!

Another song that fell into the “great OP, didn’t like the full song” category…  I think I liked the OP because of how neatly the music and animation were integrated.  You don’t often see it so very well done.
