Quintessential Quintuplets: Breaking Down the Contestants [Guest Post]

The Quintessential Quintuplets is easily one of my favorite shows this winter. With a charming cast of characters and its own enjoyable twists on the classic harem formula, it’s tailor-made for fans of romantic comedies. Not to mention anyone who enjoys shipping wars, because the series reveals in the first scene that our main character, Futaro, will marry one of the five Nakano sisters, and actively encourages viewers to pick sides. Of course, we don’t know yet which lucky sister will capture Futaro’s heart, because what fun would that be?

To help untangle this romantic Gordian knot, I present my objective, utterly unbiased, and strictly scientific analysis of each sister’s chances of becoming the lucky bride, along with some bold predictions for how their stories will end, win or lose!

Disclaimer: this is based entirely on the first seven episodes of the anime, and contains mild spoilers for those episodes. I haven’t read the manga, but I intend to start as soon as the anime is over.

The wordpress anime awards 2018: Ladies and Gentlemen, the results are in!

The fans have spoken and we have listened! The results of the first ever WordPress Anime Awards are in!

Honestly, I’m surprised and pleased at the broad range of shows represented. Some were the ones I suspected, others were a bit of a surprise… But it does show that anime fandom isn’t monolithic and does like a broad variety.

Of course, it goes without saying that I’m pleased the fans recognized Yorimoi! :)

Anyhow, check ’em out and let me know your thoughts down in the comments!

The AMV Made Me Do It [Guest Post]

Of all the myriad ways I’ve been introduced to anime over the years, I recently found myself thinking back on the times when I could thank (or blame) an AMV for turning me on to a new series. Maybe I already had my eye on that show for a while and just needed that extra nudge to finally go watch it, or maybe I had never heard of the show at all before an AMV came along and introduced me to it. A long time ago, Derek offered to let me write a guest entry here if I ever felt like it, and I decided it would be fun to take him up on that offer and share some of my favorite AMVs that have led me to try new anime.

Hey folks, Derek here – just wanted to thank long time reader and commenter WingKing for his work in creating the Lounge’s first ever guest post!  (And hopefully not his last.)  If anyone else is interested, hit me up via the Contact link.  With that, I’m going to get out of the way – take it away Wing!
