Anime Playlist – Shirobako

Shirobako - Aoi, Ema, Midori, Misa, and Shizuka

Earlier in the week Sentai Filmworks announced their Black Friday sale… (No affiliates code or commercial interest, just a satisfied customer.) Turns out that most everything they had on sale, I’d bought during their Spring Sale. (See my Experiment in Unboxing post for details). But this time around, something I’d wanted last time was on sale – Shirobako!

Which reminded me that I haven’t done an anime playlist post in a while, and that both Shirobako OP’s are on that list:

Shirobako OP 1 – Colorful Box, Yoko Ishida

Shirobako OP 2 – Treasure Box, Masami Okui

Anyhow, just a quick post because it was on my mind… For my American readers, I wish you and yours a Happy Thanksgiving, and we’ll see everyone next week when regular posting resumes!

Worth Watching – Silver Spoon / Weird Al!

Between a regular commenter talking about the manga coming to an end, watching quite a few favorite episodes, and an upcoming Anime Playlist post… Silver Spoon has been on my mind the last couple of weeks.

So, because it’s what I often do, I headed over to YouTube to seek out AMV’s, and came across this gem:

I have to admit, this left me laughing. The maker matched the animation clips to the words really, really well. (They even matched the lip flaps.) Instant bookmark, instant fave, and I just had to add it to my Worth Watching list and share it here.

Give it a watch and enjoy!

As always, feel free to comment here, but be sure and let the original maker know if you enjoyed it.

Also a quick note on this/next week: This week is crazy with IRL stuff… We’ve got plumbers coming in for a leaky hot water heater, and I’ve got to take my van to the body shop because I dinged it up on a lamp post… And my wife has been on staycation, so I’ve not been that motivated to work on the blog. So, I’m going to be skipping this week and covering all the penultimate and finale episodes next week.

Also in work is the Fall 2020 anticipation post, hopefully a Looking Back post or two, and an Anime Playlist post or two.

Enjoy!

Anime Playlist – Yuuki Yuuna franchise

Should be working on X or Y, but my brain wants to work on Z – an anime playlist post. Specifically, on the Yuuki Yuuna franchise. Fine, fine, it’s one I’ve been especially meaning to get to sooner rather than later… So, hit the jump and let’s get it going!

Worth Watching – NANA, a tale of two

NANA - Two Nanas

If I were to make a list of shows in desperate need of a license rescue, the classic NANA would definitely be on it.  If it was available, there’s a whole bunch of people (including your humble author) who would be constantly talking it up.  In the meantime, it’s story has inspired a number of AMV’s that are very much worth watching.

Hit the jump, and let’s explore!

Anime Playlist – Recovery of an MMO Junkie

Haven’t posted anything about my anime playlist in a bit, so I guess it’s time to update with my latest additions and thoughts.

Recent Additions:

Recovery of an MMO Junkie
Net-juu no Susume / “Recommendation of the Wonderful Virtual Life”
Saturday Night Question – Megumi Nakajima

Rewatched MMO Junkie a couple of months back – and realized that I watched and listened to the OP every time.  Maybe I didn’t fall in love the first time around, but I certainly did this time.

Runner-ups:

Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken!
(Eizōken ni wa Te o Dasu na!)
Chelmico – Easy Breezy

I watched the OP every single week, and loved it. But when I listened to the complete song, I didn’t like it so much. Still, wanted to share it because it’s a fun tune.  And an anime very much worth watching if you haven’t.

My Next Life as a Villainess: All Routes Lead to Doom!
Otome Gēmu no Hametsu Furagu Shika Nai Akuyaku Reijō ni Tensei Shite Shimatta
angela – There’s More Than Just One Route For a Maiden!

Another song that fell into the “great OP, didn’t like the full song” category…  I think I liked the OP because of how neatly the music and animation were integrated.  You don’t often see it so very well done.

Anime Openings of 2019

It’s the second anniversary of my anime music playlist post… So it seems the proper time to give a modest update with the songs added from shows that aired in 2019.  Probably the closest I’ll come to a “year in anime” post.  (I’m not even trying any “of the decade” posts.)

Fruits Basket - Choosing the onigiri!
